3 Tips For Staying Safe At Amusement Parks This Summer

Aguiar Injury Lawyers Tips for Visiting an Amusement Park

With Memorial Day Weekend in the rear-view mirror, the unofficial start of summer is here, and that means it’s time to plan the family vacation.

If you’re like many families in Kentucky, you may have a trip or two lined up to see nearby amusement parks, including Holiday World in Indiana, Cedar Point in Ohio, or even Kentucky Kingdom right here in Louisville.

There’s nothing quite like a day of riding rollercoasters with your family to bond over adrenaline rushes and excitement, but it’s important to remember a few safety tips to keep your day at the park safe and memorable for the right reasons:

  1. Follow instructions—Amusement parks are pretty easy-going, but they do have a few safety requirements that all guests should follow. Those include not allowing your children to get on rides that they don’t meet the minimum height or weight requirements for, as well as making sure older adults avoid rides if they have cardiovascular conditions that may put them at risk.
  2. Stay hydrated—It’s easy to lose track of time at an amusement park, and hours can pass in the blink of an eye. But temperatures can soar on hot summer days, making it easy to get dehydrated. Keep water on hand at all times for you and your loved ones to stay hydrated.
  3. Use sunscreen—Sunburns are all too common at amusement parks, as many visitors aren’t always prepared for several hours of unprotected sun exposure. Be sure to buy and use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50 and reapply it frequently throughout the day, especially after swimming or water exposure.
