Bio

Payton Klatt joined Sam Aguiar Injury Lawyers as a law clerk in 2020 and became an attorney with the firm in 2021 after passing the bar exam. His practice covers car crashes, commercial trucking cases, Uber and Lyft crashes, and premises liability claims, including slip-and-fall injuries. One client described working with him in a client-experience note.

Trucking and rideshare cases share a problem: more than one insurance policy can be in play. In a rideshare crash, which policy applies can depend on whether the driver had the app on and whether a passenger was in the car. Payton sorts out those layers early so the right carrier pays.

He grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, the son of parents who both worked in the legal field, and he knew early that he wanted to practice law.

Payton earned his undergraduate degree in Public Policy and Leadership, with a minor in Spanish, from the University of Mississippi. He received his law degree cum laude from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, where he competed on the Mock Trial Arbitration Team and earned a CALI Award for Academic Excellence in Criminal Procedure: Judicial Process.

His peers selected him for the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, and he has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star.

Outside work, Payton golfs and fly fishes. He and his wife have a young child and a Labrador retriever, and he follows Ole Miss football, basketball, and baseball.
