On March 8, 2025, Sam Aguiar Injury Lawyers stood midcourt at the University of Louisville men’s basketball game against Stanford and presented a $5,000 donation to the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center — a national hub for athletics and community empowerment built in Louisville’s West End. It was a moment that said more than a press release ever could about what this firm believes community investment looks like. This is part of our ongoing Sam Cares commitment.

About the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center

The Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center is one of the most significant community development projects Louisville has seen in years. Built on what was once an abandoned brownfield in the West End, the center now draws athletes, families, and visitors from across the country.

The facility is a cornerstone of the Louisville Urban League’s mission — eliminating racial disparities, expanding economic opportunity, and improving lives in the city’s historically underserved West End communities. It’s not just a sports venue. It’s a symbol of what investment and vision can produce.

What’s Inside the Facility

  • One of only eight banked indoor tracks in the United States — a facility capable of hosting national and international track and field competitions
  • A 24-acre campus built for local, regional, and national athletic events across multiple disciplines
  • A family fun zone with mini-bowling, a rock-climbing wall, and programming for all ages
  • Educational and wellness programming designed to create lasting positive impact in Louisville’s West End neighborhoods

The Moment Itself

We were humbled to share the halftime moment with Sadiqa Reynolds — the visionary leader who drove the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center from concept to reality. Reynolds, the former president of the Louisville Urban League and current CEO of the Perception Institute, became the first African American woman to clerk for the Kentucky Supreme Court. She’s dedicated her career to equity, opportunity, and transformational change in Louisville.

Standing on that court and handing a check to an institution she built — that meant something. It’s the kind of thing that stays with you.

A Corporate Partner of UofL Athletics

Sam Aguiar Injury Lawyers is a corporate partner of the University of Louisville Athletics Department. That partnership is about more than branding — it’s a platform for real community impact. This season we:

  • Sent 2,222 fans to the Louisville vs. Virginia game, free of charge — helping the KFC Yum! Center hit its highest attendance since 2021
  • Partnered with UofL Athletics to provide Thanksgiving meals to nearly 1,000 individuals in 2024 and 2025, distributing close to 200 turkeys and meal baskets each year
  • Presented a $5,000 donation to the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center on behalf of the Louisville community

Why the West End Matters to Us

We’re a Louisville law firm. We live here, we work here, and we represent people from every neighborhood in this city — including the West End. The investment Sam Aguiar Injury Lawyers makes in places like the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center isn’t about visibility. It’s about backing the communities our clients come from.

The center’s success fuels economic growth, creates opportunities for Black-owned businesses, and builds generational wealth in a part of Louisville that has historically been overlooked. When this facility thrives, the whole city benefits. That’s a cause worth showing up for.

Our giving is funded by results. Sam Aguiar Injury Lawyers operates on a no increased litigation fees contingency fee that never increases — not even for trial. You pay $0 Out-Of-Pocket Forever. A portion of every case we win flows right back into the Louisville community through our Sam Cares program. That’s not charity — that’s a commitment.

Part of a Bigger Picture

This $5,000 donation is one piece of a much larger 2024–2025 giving program. Across Louisville and Lexington, Sam Aguiar Injury Lawyers has distributed 1,500+ turkeys and meal baskets, given away 110+ WWE SmackDown tickets, donated to more than 30 local organizations, and set a $500,000 annual giving goal through Sam Cares.

We believe a law firm should be measured by more than verdict amounts. The way we show up in the community — midcourt at a basketball game, at a food pantry, at a school — that matters too.
