Giving back is built into everything we do at Sam Aguiar Injury Lawyers. In 2024, our Sam Cares program reached hundreds of Louisville and Lexington families through food drives, ticket giveaways, school donations, and direct support for dozens of nonprofits. Because of our clients, we were able to pay it forward in a big way — and we’re just getting started.

Why Community Giving Is Part of Our Work

When someone comes to us after a car crash or serious injury, they’re trusting us with one of the hardest moments of their life. That trust means something. Our clients make it possible for us to do this work, and in return we put a portion of what we earn right back into the communities they live in.

Louisville and Lexington are home to us. We raise our families here, cheer for the Cards here, and give back here. The Sam Cares program exists because we believe a law firm should be measured by more than courtroom results. In 2024, we put that belief into action.

Feeding Our Neighbors

One of our biggest recurring efforts is making sure families in Louisville and Lexington have enough food for the holidays. In partnership with the University of Louisville Athletics Department, the Breonna Taylor Foundation, Until Freedom, and Turkey Trot, we distributed more than 1,500 turkeys and meal baskets throughout 2024 — continuing a tradition that has grown every single year.

Beyond the big Thanksgiving push, we ran meal and event sponsorships for local YMCAs, Future Healers, West End families, and local athletics programs. We also organized lunch deliveries to thank teachers, firefighters, law enforcement workers, and healthcare professionals who show up for our community every day.

Annual Trunk or Treat

Our annual Trunk or Treat brought together hundreds of local children for a safe, fun Halloween celebration. Events like these matter especially for families in neighborhoods where traditional trick-or-treating isn’t always accessible. It’s one of our favorite events of the year — the energy from the kids makes every minute worth it.

Reaching Children and Families

Children are at the center of a lot of what Sam Cares does. In 2024, we gave away 10 Taylor Swift tickets to deserving community members and distributed hundreds of Christmas gift cards through Future Healers and Game Changers — targeting kids ages 5 to 17 who might otherwise go without during the holidays.

We also sent 2,500 fans to the University of Louisville vs. Virginia men’s basketball game, free of charge, in partnership with UofL Athletics. That night, the KFC Yum! Center hit its highest attendance since 2021. That’s what it looks like when a community shows up together.

110 WWE SmackDown Tickets — On Us

We gave away more than 110 tickets to WWE SmackDown at the KFC Yum! Center so local families could experience a live event they might not otherwise afford. Winners picked up their tickets at our office, and we threw in some merchandise too. The smiles in that lobby said everything. Read the full WWE giveaway story.

Organizations We Supported in 2024

Our financial donations and service hours in 2024 touched more than 30 organizations across Louisville and beyond. Here’s a partial list of the groups we had the privilege of supporting:

St. Jude Hospital ($7,500)
Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation
Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center ($5,000)
Kosair Kids
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Susan B. Komen
Salvation Army
Wayside Christian Mission
Chrysalis House
Future Healers / Game Changers
Louisville City Foundation
Down Syndrome of Louisville
Blessings In A Backpack
Cram the Van
Wednesday’s Child
Shamrock Foundation
Helping Evolve Recovery
First Car Project
Kenwood Elementary
Knight Middle School
Eastern KY Flood Victims
Western KY Tornado Victims
Breonna Taylor Foundation
25+ School Sports Teams & Academic Orgs

Beyond these organizations, we sent money directly to hundreds of families and individuals who were going through hard times — no organization needed, just neighbor to neighbor.

Teachers, First Responders, and Healthcare Heroes

Throughout the year we organized surprise lunch deliveries to local school teachers, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and hospital and clinic workers. These are people who pour themselves into our community every day and rarely get the recognition they deserve. It’s a small gesture, but it’s one we’ll keep doing.

Our clients make all of this possible. Every case we take — from car accidents to truck crashes to slip-and-fall injuries — runs on a no increased litigation fees contingency fee that never increases. We keep less so our clients take home more. And a portion of what we earn goes right back into Louisville and Lexington through Sam Cares. That’s the deal, and we’re proud of it.

What’s Ahead

We’ve set our annual giving goal at $500,000 — a number that reflects how seriously we take this commitment. With your continued trust, we’ll keep reaching more schools, more families, and more organizations that make Louisville and Lexington the kind of places worth calling home.

If you were injured in a car crash, truck accident, or any other serious incident in Kentucky, we’re ready to put our full team behind your case — and put our resources back into the community you’re part of. Learn more about Sam Cares or explore our story to see what drives this firm.
